Zion Reactor Internals Cutting Begins

This morning, the first cut to segment the Zion Unit-2 Core Barrel was started. A mechanical cutting machine called the "CHORCE" will do a 360-degree cut to sever the flange from the Upper Core Barrel. This marks the first significant cutting of the Reactor Vessel Internals (RVI) at Zion.

The main company of the PlantDecommissioning.com Group was chosen as the supplier to design and fabricate the CHORCE for Siempelkamp Nuclear Services, Inc. (SNS). The CHORCE is one of three large machines PlantD designed and fabricated for SNS for the Zion Station Decommissioning. All three machines are fully remote and mechanically cut underwater.
